Quality care and early education are core components of a strong and economically vibrant community.
That understanding and the fact that in Aberdeen, some 84 percent of children younger than 6 are in families where all parents are in the workforce, prompted action by a local group. The Aberdeen Business-Civic Leadership Group on Early Care and Education in fall 2008 conducted a survey of child care realities and needs in Aberdeen. The results give a picture of infant/child care issues and needs that could have far-reaching implications for the community?s economic growth.
The results of that survey, related research and recommendations have been compiled in a publication, Life is good in Aberdeen ? Making our good life better. It can be viewed by clicking here.
Earlier reports have been released by Business-Civic Leadership Groups on Early Care and Education in Sioux Falls, Brookings and the Northern Hills. They may be viewed by clicking here.
