KIDS SPEAK: An opportunity for youth to be heard

South Dakota Voices for Children's KIDS SPEAK 2011
South Dakota Voices for Children's 2011 KIDS SPEAK featured six students:

  • Baylee Dittman, freshman, Spearfish High School,
  • Jasmin Fosheim, sophomore, Pierre Riggs High School,
  • Madisyn Gohn, freshman, Huron High School,
  • Tarin Hupp, junior, Huron High School,
  • Lesley Stone, senior, Rapid City Central High School,
  • Jamie Withorne, freshman, Sioux Falls Washington High School.

Each made a 10-minute presentation on the topic: "How can policy (including implementation, education and enforcement) help South Dakota youth avoid the lasting effects of tobacco, drugs and alcohol?" To see a video of the event, click here; to see photos from the event, click here..

Funding for KIDS SPEAK is provided by Coordinated School Health, a collaborative partnership between the South Dakota Departments of Education and Health.

The mission of South Dakota Voices for Children is to improve the lives of children through policy and program advocacy.
